Managing the Ebola Response

In October 2014, authorities tracked an Ebola-stricken nurse's travels to Ohio. As panic struck the Cleveland area, Ashtabula Medical Center immediately began working with Cleveland Clinic on an Emergency Preparedness Plan. By using the HospitalPORTAL Intranet, Ashtabula was able to create a centralized communication page that allowed them to actively share vital announcements with staff and include community groups that were being affected by the outbreak. Staff and caregivers were able to get automatic announcements about the crisis so they could prepare their patients and administer the best possible care. The site received 1k views in the first two weeks and over 2k in the first 6 weeks.

What you will learn:

  • How easy it is to launch an emergency preparedness plan with the HospitalPortal.net Intranet
  • Tips on creative ways to communicate with staff during an emergency
  • Using external content and news feeds to connect staff with real-time updates
